2-Wheeler Sales in the U.S. Fell 40% in ’09; ATVs Down 29%

Sales of motorized two-wheelers and ATVs in the United States in 2009 sank 36.9 percent compared to sales in 2008.

Sales in 2009 represented the industry’s lowest sales figure since 2001. A high point in sales during the past decade occurred in 2006, when 1,769,913 motorcycles and ATVs were sold in the U.S.

The figures above were compiled by the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) using information provided by 13 motorcycle and ATV manufacturers – Arctic Cat, BMW, BRP/Can-Am, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTMPiaggio, Polaris/Victory, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha.

    You know this is wrong, none of the Chinese companies are on there. Where is Kymco, Genuine, SYM, etc.... Jonway alone sold 40,000 units in 2008. Wheres the estimate for the Asian peeps?

    RESPONSE: I'd include those numbers if they were made available. As you know, they are not. So, yeah, the numbers I provided are simply representative of the 13 manufacturers named.
